On successful completion you will be able to apply to the MCS (Micro-Generation Certification Scheme) who oversee competence for Heat Pump Installations.

This package is perfect for anyone with plumbing and heating experience to enter the Heat Pump industry as there is no shortage of work in the renewable energy sector and with the qualifications gained in the package you can enter the industry immediately and work. Our experienced tutors will be able to guide you in all aspects of working in the Heat Pump industry and in many cases we can provide successful candidates from this package with work placements that often lead to full-time positions.

This flexible package can be undertaken at your convenience at either of our centres which are perfectly located close to the M1, M25 and Central London.

If you do not hold any formal Plumbing or Heating qualifications, please see our One Day Intensive Plumbing Course below, that will get you up to speed with the required basics before you start on our Heat Pump Package:

Basic Plumbing & Heating Course

We offer free onsite parking at our Hemel Hempstead centre, as well as free evening and weekend local parking at our Central London training centre. Both Bethnal Green Tube and Cambridge Heath stations are nearby, and local buses from across London stop directly outside our London centre.

Category: COURSE DURATION: 4 to 5 days flexible

To be eligible you must hold at least a Level 2 Qualification in Plumbing/Heating or related trade, or a Gas qualification as well as the WRAS Water Regulations qualification. We can provide the Water Regulations free of charge if you do not already hold this qualification.

✅ Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) – Are You Eligible Without All the Formal Qualifications?

At Activate Training, we understand that many trades people and engineers have years of valuable experience – even if they don’t hold every formal qualification listed as a course pre-requisite.

That’s why we use Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) to help experienced professionals access key renewable training like:

  • Heat Pumps
  • Low Temperature Hot Water System Design
  • Unvented Hot Water G3
  • Water Regulations

🛠️ What Counts as Prior Learning?

If you’ve worked in the industry and have hands-on experience, you may still be eligible to enrol even if you don’t hold an NVQ3 – as long as you can provide:

  • Employer letters confirming your job roles and tasks
  • Photos or documents of work you’ve done
  • Old or partial qualifications or training certificates
  • Signed statements from site managers or supervisors
  • A clear technical CV
