The Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installation is your route to becoming a qualified electrician.

Building on the skills and knowledge gained at Level 2 you will now add Electrical Design, Electrical Inspection, Testing, Fault Finding as well as advanced electrical scientific principles to to your qualifications.

Ideally at Level 3 you will enter into the workplace which will allow you to convert your Diploma into an NVQ.

This course is comprised of six units which are a mixture of practical and written work. These include:

  • Environmental Technologies
  • Electrical Scientific Principles (Level 3)
  • Fault diagnosis and rectification
  • Inspection, Testing and Commissioning
  • Electrical Systems Design
  • Career Awareness

What's next:

Along with your Diploma you can gain the essential qualifications such as Electrical Wiring Regulations BS7671, Initial and Periodic Inspection and Testing and the popular renewable energies such as Electric Vehicle Charge Point, Solar PV and Air Source Heat Pump Installer qualifications.

Our Level 3 Diploma Syllabus takes place on evenings and weekends in our workshops (London or Hemel Hempstead) for your portfolio building projects.

We run our Diploma courses on Saturdays at both our training centre's and once signed up with us you can attend either, or both centre's to complete your course. We operate a flexible approach to learning dependent on your location and we are always there to help. 

Simply book up on the month you want to start and we will provide your portfolio and dates for your attendance.

Don't worry if you miss a date, there will always be opportunities to catch up and we run many weekend classes where you can network with other students to extend your knowledge and meet people already working in the industry who can help you to gain valuable work experience.

What does this qualification cover?

The qualification has mandatory and optional units. The mandatory units cover electrical installation design, environmental technology systems, electrical science and principles, electrical installation craft, inspection, testing, commissioning, diagnosing and correcting electrical faults.

During your Diploma our experienced trainers can help you build your CV and guide you through the process of getting into the work place. A real job as a trainee in the electrical industry is well within your grasp even at Level 2/3 and our goal is to get you working.

The assessment involves on-screen examinations, practical assessments and a theory assignment.

We run our Diploma qualifications over 15 weeks, two evenings per week and weekends where appropriate

  • Electrical Installation Planning, Preparing and Designing
  • Electrical Installation Craft Skills
  • Understanding the principles, practices and legislation for the inspection, testing, commissioning and certification of electro-technical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
  • Understanding the principles, practices and legislation for diagnosing and correcting electrical faults in electro-technical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
