Our experienced tutors will guide you through the day in a friendly, relaxed, academic environment. The day is designed to be intensive but informal and people even tell us it was fun! But most of all it’s about building confidence to enable you to pass The AM2E without any stress.

Preparing for the AM2 (Achievement Measurement 2) assessment typically involves a structured approach to ensure you are ready for the electrical installation practical examination. The AM2 is a practical skills assessment that electricians in the United Kingdom often need to pass to demonstrate their competence. Here’s a suggested plan for your AM2 preparation day:

1. Review the AM2 Handbook: – Start by thoroughly reviewing the AM2 Handbook provided by the National Electrotechnical Training (NET) organization. This handbook contains essential information about the assessment, including the tasks you’ll be required to complete.

2. Gather Necessary Documents: – Ensure you have all the required identification and documentation ready, such as your ID card, AM2 candidate logbook, and any other paperwork you’ll need to bring with you to the assessment centre.

3. Review Safety Procedures: – Safety is paramount in electrical work. Review all safety procedures and guidelines, including personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements. Make sure you understand how to work safely at all times during the assessment.

4. Familiarize Yourself with Tools and Equipment: – Ensure you are familiar with the tools and equipment you’ll be using during the assessment. Practice using them to build confidence and efficiency.

5. Time Management: – The AM2 assessment has strict time limits for each task. Practice managing your time effectively to complete all tasks within the allocated time.

6. Task-Specific Preparation: – Depending on your previous training and experience, focus on the specific tasks you’ll be assessed on, such as installing circuits, wiring systems, and fault-finding. Review any areas where you may feel less confident.

7. Mock Assessments: – Consider taking part in mock assessments or practice exams if available. This can help simulate the actual testing conditions and identify areas where you may need improvement.

8. Stay Well-Rested and Nourished: – Get a good night’s sleep before the assessment day, and ensure you have a balanced meal to maintain your energy levels during the day.

9. Pack Essentials: – Prepare a bag with all the essential tools, equipment, and documents you’ll need for the assessment. Double-check that you have everything in advance.

10. Plan Your Journey: – If the assessment centre is not at your usual place of work or residence, plan your journey in advance. Ensure you arrive with plenty of time to spare.

11. Stay Calm and Focused: – On the assessment day, stay calm, focused, and confident in your abilities. Take deep breaths if you feel anxious, and remember your training.

12. Follow Instructions Carefully: – During the assessment, read and follow all instructions carefully. Pay attention to safety guidelines and any specific requirements for each task.

13. Review Your Work: – If time allows, review your work before submitting it. Check for any errors or omissions.

14. Reflect and Learn: – After the assessment, reflect on your performance and areas where you could improve. This will help you in your ongoing development as an electrician.

Remember that thorough preparation is key to passing the AM2 assessment. By following these steps and putting in the necessary effort, you can increase your chances of success. Good luck with your AM2 preparation and assessment.
