Level 3 Electrotechnical in Dwellings Experienced Worker Qualification
This qualification is designed solely for those persons who are, or have been, working in the Electrical industry, practicing as an Electrician, for a minimum of 3 years and who can demonstrate their technical knowledge, performance and competence to the industry standards at Level 3 and would like to gain a formal qualification as a Domestic Electrician Experienced Worker.
This qualification covers the knowledge, skills and competency required by a Domestic Electrician. This includes the application of health and safety, organising and overseeing electrical work, application of design and installation practices and procedures, inspection, testing, reporting and commissioning of electrical systems and fault diagnosis and rectification in domestic dwellings.
It is suitable for both self-employed and employed electricians who have worked for several years but have never gained full, formal recognition of their skills or experience. You will need to demonstrate knowledge, understanding and competence to the standard of the Level 3 Electrotechnical apprenticeship.
Before enrolling for this qualification learners must follow the Skill Scan process as set out by TESP, to help them decide whether the Domestic Electrician EWA is right for them and whether they meet the eligibility requirements, in terms of their existing qualifications and experience. Centres must only enrol eligible learners and direct learners who are not eligible towards other training routes. Useful guidance, including the most up to date Skill Scan form can be found in the ewa route website.
This is a portfolio based qualification and will be supported through online, face-to-face and on-site meetings as required.
In summary:
Learners will adhere to units aligned with pertinent Health and Safety regulations, especially when engaged in tasks such as working at heights, conducting inspections and tests, and diagnosing faults.
To fulfill the assessment criteria for performance outcomes, discussions and planning assessments between the learner and assessor is essential. This facilitates the identification of opportunities to gather evidence from real working environments, address any gaps in knowledge or skills, and acknowledge the learner's prior achievements.
It is a requirement for you to fill in both the Skills Scan and Candidate Background forms first for our review and recognition of your suitability for this qualification.
This qualification is not suitable for new entrants to the electrotechnical industry, or for apprentices, or for those who have completed an electrotechnical technical qualification with less than three years relevant experience as an electrician. If you fall into these categories, please see the other routes to becoming an Electrician on our website.
You will not be required to complete any Knowledge Units, but you must hold The current edition of the Electrical Wiring Regulations 18th Edition BS7671-22 as a minimum:
You will also need to undertake an AM2E assessment before you can apply for your ECS Gold Card.
For course commencement:
The assessment for this qualification is via the completion of a portfolio of work based evidence.
All successful candidates will receive The Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification including certificate.
