HEAT PUMP INSTALLER

The bootcamp is designed to give existing employed/self-employed engineers the chance to improve their air pump installation and maintenance skills and has been developed to the requirements of the National Occupational Standard Assessment Programme for individuals who wish to demonstrate competence in this field.

This is coupled with the integration of a Mental Health Awareness qualification to help the self-employed deal with the challenges of working alone and provide general awareness on mental health issues

BOOTCAMP CONTENT

This course has the following outcomes:

  • Introduction to air source heat pump systems
  • Principles of operation and components
  • Regulations
  • Health and safety
  • System design
  • Heat sink circuits
  • Collector circuits
  • Air source heat pump, installation, testing, and commisioning
  • Air source heat pump, maintenance
  • Air source heat pump, fault diagnosis and repair

Mental Health Awareness:

  • Exploring mental health
  • Understand how to support individuals with mental ill health
  • Understand a mentally healthy environment

METHOD OF DELIVERY

The Bootcamp is delivered in a blended learning approach (classroom/remote) with all GLH through facilitated teaching methods.
Duration
10–12 days (10–12 weeks part-time)

Level 3 Award in the installation and Maintenance of Air Source Heat Pumps

EV CHARGE POINT INSTALLER

The bootcamp is designed to give existing employed/self-employed qualified electricians who want to learn about the technical requirements and practical considerations when installing electric vehicle charging points and has been developed to the requirements of the National Occupational Standard Assessment Programme for individuals who wish to demonstrate competence in this field.

It forms part of our bootcamp offer promoting green skills and the strive for net zero in the region, with the integration of mental health qualification to help the self-employed deal with the challenges of working alone and to promote general awareness.

BOOTCAMP CONTENT

This course has the following outcomes:

  • Introduction to electric vehicles – electric vehicle types
  • Characteristics, charging requirements, safety considerations
  • Overview of electric vehicle charging
  • Modes of electric vehicle charging, requirements, and restrictions
  • Electrical installation requirements
  • Supply, earthing, planning permission, explosive atmospheres, protection, labelling, control, risk assessment
  • Protecting against open pen conductor faults
  • Integration into prosumers electrical installations
  • Reverse feeding into the installation or back to the grid
  • Inspection, test and certification
  • Commissioning and DNO paperwork
  • Risk assessment and pre &post-installation checklists
  • System test, fault finding and examination

  • Exploring mental health
  • Understand how to support individuals with mental ill health

DOMESTIC ENERGY ASSESSOR

This course includes:

  • Understand the information that is needed to produce the data required to generate an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) of a domestic property
  • Understand the range of factors that affect the energy performance of a property
  • Understand how to collate and maintain records of assessment findings
  • Be able to assess property to determine energy performance
  • Be able to maintain records of assessment findings
  • Understand the legislation and regulations relating to energy assessments and Energy Performance Certificates
  • Understand how to agree and confirm instructions to undertake energy assessments
  • Understand how to investigate relevant matters relating to the property
